Boost Your Brain with These Essential Super Foods

It’s a new year, and many of us are looking to get our lives back on track and progressing as smoothly as possible. Since we’re almost entirely dependent on our brain to function, it’s essential that we take as much care to feed it as we do our stomach.

Here at our Los Angeles limousine service, we understand the importance of maintaining a good diet, especially since our chauffeurs spend most of their time on the road. It is essential for them to be fit and healthy and remember the many different areas of the city. If you’re ever in need (or want) of a safe and comfortable driving experience, don’t hesitate to give us a call.

Now, let’s get back to assessing what we should have in our diets to keep our brain running at optimum level:

The Importance of Vegetables

There’s really nothing like a cool glass of green smoothie in the morning unless that’s not your thing. Either way though, there are lots of other ways to get enough vegetables into our system, from salads and roasted vegetables to just adding enough cooked vegetables to our daily meals. Some great choices to boost our brain are kale, broccoli, and asparagus as they’re all rich in brain-protective antioxidants.

Eggs Are the Way to Go

There are lots of people who consume eggs on a daily basis. Did you know though, that eggs are rich in acetylcholine, a very fundamental neurotransmitter? It’s generally recommended that we consume not more than two eggs per day. As with anything else, moderation is always best. The cholesterol in eggs is essential to help with any of our dietary plans.

Nuts, Nuts, Nuts

Are you a fan of nuts? Well, if you are, you’ll be pleased to know that walnuts and almonds are especially rich in vitamin E and omega-3 fatty acids. These essential nutrients are important as they help renew our brain cells (especially in the area of memory). If you’re running late in the morning, you can still grab a handful of these powerful brain boosters before you start your day.

The Power of Fruits

Fruit juices are one of the more enjoyable drinks on the planet. Then again, we can’t all have the time or inclination to freshly juice our fruits at the start of the day. Still though, there’s always the other option; just eating the fruits as it is. Berries (particularly blueberries) are especially rich in antioxidants and polyphenols. Another ingredient, anthocyanins, also helps to keep your memory sharp as you age.

The Right Drinks

A glass of red wine a day is seen as the consensus to daily health, and that’s because a glassful contains enough polyphenols to help ensure a smooth brain blood flow. If you’re not a fan of wine or if you’re looking for an alternative you can drink any time of the day, you can go with teas instead. Just be careful of the type of tea you choose to drink as there are some which should only be drank during the earlier hours of the day.
