Business Travel: Remember to Ride Responsibly

Just as a limo driver has the responsibility to provide you with on-time, safe, and professional service, as the passenger, you have certain responsibilities. The goal in hiring a limousine company for business travel is to have a positive experience, whether using a chauffeur for business or personal reasons. Your time as a passenger will be better simply by following a few rules.

Being a Good Passenger

  • Licensed and Insured – As the client, you have both the right and responsibility to hire a chauffeur who is licensed and insured. When booking a limo, never hesitate to ask for proof as well as conduct an online research.

  • Contract – You should have a contract with the limousine company that includes the total cost, required deposit, tip policy, type of vehicle, insurance proof, refund policy, pick-up and drop-off times and locations, and the decal number from the Department of Licensing. That way, you have a contract that covers all services provided.

  • Good Planning – Just as you expect the chauffeur to arrive on time, you need to be ready as scheduled. Remember, limo drivers have other clients, so if you are not ready, the schedule of other clients changes. Therefore, be responsible by having all your bags and other passengers ready to go when the chauffeur arrives.

  • Requests – If you have special requests, make them known at the time of booking. For instance, if taking a limo to a wedding reception, you might request champagne, whereas for business, you might need a USB port or Wi-Fi connection. You want to make sure the limo company knows what you need ahead of time as opposed to making a last-minute request.

  • Follow the Rules – Every chauffeur has specific rules to follow to keep you safe and ensure a positive experience. Typically, the chauffeur sets the tone as to what is and what is not acceptable, so if the chauffeur makes a particular request, simply abide by it.

  • Tipping – As with other services, tipping your chauffeur is expected. The tip ranges between 10% and 20% based on a number of things, such as how close to the scheduled pick-up time the chauffeur shows up, the level and caliber of service provided, the condition of the vehicle, how helpful the driver was, the distance driven, the number of stops, the quantity of luggage, the number of passengers, and additional services.

Hiring a Chauffeur

Hiring a chauffeur from a reputable limousine company is one of the most cost-effective and efficient modes of ground transportation. For special events, important business meetings, and when visiting a new city, a hired limo is essential.
