Have a Great 4th of July Celebration in LA with These Awesome Suggestions

It’s that time of year again where summer is fast approaching, and Independence Day is almost upon us. You can rest assured that there will be plenty of events and activities for the entire family to enjoy, so get prepared to have lots of fun. Of course, you can always choose to stay at home and just catch up on some much-needed sleep, but if you’re in the mood to party with everyone else, do check out some of our suggestions below:

Enjoy a Fantastic Fireworks Display

No matter how old you are, there’s something innately heart-tugging and mesmerizing about a beautiful fireworks display. From its bright colors to sky illuminating explosions, it’s a great activity for everyone to enjoy. Rather than watching the scene from a screen, you’ll get a much better experience from witnessing it live.

This year, Grand Park’s Block Party is back yet again, and you can be sure that it’ll be a great place to bring your entire family. Covering eight blocks with loads of activities as well as two main stages, you can definitely set your sights on having a great time here. If you’re looking to chow down on delicious food, you can also do so from over 25 local vendors on site.

Venue: Grand Park + The Music Center: 200 North Grand Avenue, LA 90012

Time & Date: 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (4 July)

Admission: FREE

Have a BBQ

Nothing shouts summer more than an outdoor cookout or barbecue, so don’t hesitate to bring out the best meats and foods and just chill for an entire day. You can even make it a community affair by inviting just about everyone. To make things a little easier on your piggy bank, you can turn it into a potluck event where everyone brings a little something to contribute to the table.

Take a Trip to a Lake or a Beach

Not only is it a great way to cool off and show off your new swim piece, it’ll also be a chance for outdoor enthusiasts to indulge in the many water-related activities available. However, you’ll need to remember that popular locations are more likely to be crowded, so if that isn’t your kind of scene, you’ll probably need to travel a little further out for more peace and quiet.

Dress Up in White, Red, and Blue

There are only so few days of the year where you’re able to dress up in a fixed color mode like everyone else and no one will bat an eyelid. Since the colors red, white and blue have been a standard since way back, you’ll be able to find lots of inspiration and tutorials online to create your look. If you want something a little more subtle, you can also focus on accessorizing instead.

Go To An American Restaurant

Delicious burgers are a must in LA, and even if it’s already a part of your weekly staple, there’s nothing wrong with indulging in more of it for Independence Day. After all, America’s classic favorite has gained worldwide recognition and love over the years, so it’s really just right to be proud of this delicious food.

Indulge in nostalgia and fond memories by visiting The Apple Pan this 4th of July. Since its opening in 1947, it has served as an inspiration for the opening of many other burger restaurants. Its diner concept is still maintained till today, and you’ll be able to enjoy a choice of two burgers: steak or hickory. For a taste of delicious history, you’ll best make your way over here when you can.

Venue: 10801 Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90064

Opening Hours: 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. (4 July)

Party with Family

For those who haven’t been spending much time with family, now’s the time to do so. After all, if you have the day off, it can be well spent on building healthy relationships, and we all know that fellowship is key to that. You needn’t invest in planning a party or something elaborate. The main thing is spending time together, so even a simple board game session can bring everyone together.

Go on Vacation

If you’re up for a holiday this 4th of July, go ahead. After all, if you take the Friday off, you’ll get a full four days to enjoy yourself. Just remember to plan ahead and make your bookings in advance because there will be more people traveling to and from than usual. Deciding earlier on will also help you stick to your initial budget instead of caving into inflated costs.

Decorate Your Home

Show your love for the nation by proudly displaying the American flag outdoors. Other than that, there are also plenty of other ways to decorate the inside and outside of your home. For a more contemporary or modernized decorative style, you can invest in streamers and banners. If you’re holding a get together, you can also serve your guests with 4th of July patterned plates, cups, and napkins.

Attend a Parade

Want to enjoy an event that’s usually free and great for the entire family? Parades have been around for the longest time, and you’ll have to admit, it’s fun to watch. From marching bands and fire trucks to helium-filled balloons and floats, it’s a colorful sight that just shouts creativity and imagination.

For a truly authentic parade experience, you’ll want to witness the 71st Palisades Americanism Parade. You’ll be treated to a skydiving show first before the parade official starts, and there will also be a concert and fireworks show from evening onwards (but that will require a ticket). If you’re in the mood for a refreshing run, you can also participate in the 42nd annual Palisades Will Rogers 5 and 10K Run on the same day itself.

Venue: Starts at Sunset Boulevard

Time & Date: Starts at 2 p.m. (4 July)

Admission: FREE
