Say Yes to YES and Procol Harum at Universal CityWalk!

Two English classic rock bands are coming to the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk August 15th. For luxury limousine service to see Yes and Procol Harum, the fan’s choice is Exclusive Sedan.

The only remaining original member of the 60s band Procol Harum is Gary Brooker, who was the principal songwriter, lead singer and keyboardist during their peak years. The band may not have achieved phenomenal success like many of its contemporaries like the Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd, but Procol Harum has left an indelible mark in the history of British rock music.

Even children of the band’s aging fans are familiar with their 1956 debut single, A Whiter Shade of Pale, with its unforgettable organ prelude and stirring vocals by Brooker. The song became an instant hit and and was #1 in the UK for six weeks, in addition to making it to #5 on the US Billboard charts. The song has gone on to earn worldwide distinction and has astoundingly been rerecorded over 1,000 times by other music artists. The song also ranks #57 on the list of Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest hits of All Time and has been honored as the most played song in public places in the UK from the last 75 years.

Although Procol Harum was never able to maintain its popularity from their debut single, the band did release other notable singles that made the charts, in particular “Homburg” and “Conquistador.” And another founding member of the band that went on to have his own very successful solo career was Robin Trower, who released a number of popular albums during the 1970s, including Bridge of Sighs, recorded in 1974.

The 70s British rock band Yes followed in the footsteps of Procol Harum and Pink Floyd, who forged the progressive rock movement. While their first few albums achieved some measure of success, it wasn't until their fourth album, Fragile, recorded in 1971, that launched the band into superstar status. Fragile contained some of the band’s most important musical compositions, including Long Distance Runaround, Heart of the Sunrise and arguably their most famous song, Roundabout, which was a hit single in both the UK and US chart.

The band went on to enduring status, releasing several albums during their peak years of the 70s-80s but have continued on through the next century with their most recent effort released just last year. Among their long list of fan favorite songs are: Time and A Word, I’ve Seen All Good People, And You and I, Love Will Find a Way and their only #1 hit, 1980’s Owner of a Lonely Heart.

Although two of the band’s most important members during their peak years are no longer with the band - lead singer Jon Anderson and keyboardist Rick Wakeman, three longtime members, including guitarist Steve Howe, drummer Alan White and co-founder of the band, Chris Squire are active members.
